Opinions on ultimate tank setup?

Postby Adam on Sat Jan 27, 2001 3:07 pm

I have seen some people say that you should have gravel as it lets the oscars dig etc and I have seen some say that no gravel is better because it is so much easir to clean. What is the best tank setup for a beginner? Are the oscars happier with things to do in the tank (e.i. gravel rock and plants) or could they really care less?
I am waiting for replacement parts for my filter to come in the mail so I'm trying to get this all figured out before I get water in the tank.
Thanks

it is purely a personal preference. whatever looks better to you. you do want to have something in the tank to give the oscar some cover and make him feel a little more comfortable, but rocks, driftwood, etc. can be used without gravel.

If your oscar is "alone" in the tank, yes I'd recommend some gravel for him to play with. But generally it doesn't matter too much, as stoli said just make it the way you want taking into consideration how much time you want to spend cleaning it Image
