I PUT MINE IN VINIGER TO SEE IF THEY ARE SUITABLE (THE VINIGER WILL STAY CLEAR IF THEY ARE) AND THEN BOIL THEM TO STERILIZE. I THINK YOU CAN BUY TREATMENT FOR THEM BUT I FIND THIS WORKS. DEPENDING ON ROCK SIZES THEY CAN TAKE AGES TO COOL DOWN.
ID PROBABLY USE THE SAME SILICON USED ON THE TANKS, YOU CAN USE A BRAND CALL ALL CLEAR BUT IT TAKES AGES TO SET BUT IS HARMLESS TO THE FISH.

If you want you can soak them in chlorine, then rinse well and maybe dry in sun and rinse again....

The vinegar is to tell if the rocks are suitable for aquarium water, when in the vinegar if they give off any colour or start effervessing then they are no good. You would be best to do this after cleaning them.

Chlorine is probably better than boiling.

good idea, you don't want rocks with a whole lot of reactive deposits to change your water chemistry....
