Almost finished building my indoor pond! 150g

gallons. It's made with 4x4's at the ends and alot of 2x4's with plywood sheathing inside and out. I also use a pond liner on the inside plywd. The floor has nothing just the floor. It's inside dimensions is 60"H x 24"W x 24"D, 150 gallons.

Anyway, I'm planning on putting my 1-1/2" tiger oscar in there. But maybe I will put something else in there, what would you put in this setup? I need some ideas.

I really want to try a different species of fish that I have never tried before. These are the species that I already raised before and I don't want them.

What about some green terrors? I saw some 6" specimens last week. They looked very passive that day. They also had small 1" GT for sale. The big 6" dudes were $50 ea.

I would get something that is more interesting viewed from above... something like an oscar, who's color is all on the sides wouldnt look that impressive from the top. I know they arent exciting but gold fish work very well in these types of aplications. I think you will run into a similar type of frustration with green terrors, that of not being able to view them properly, since most of their unusual color is on the side of their operculum or gill cover, and face. With a pond that size you could do any of the large cichlids though.

Also you are going to want to have as little surface disruption as possible so you can keep a nice glassy surface to look through. so it would be best to have some kind of internal filter though you probably already have this area thought through and aready to go.

I'm not a carpenter so I didn't make mitre cuts. Ah yeah, I got to move some of the wax and chemicals off the shelf!

My next project is to turn a 5 gallon bucket into a reverse wet/dry trickle filter for the pond. My pond kit can with the frog, I'm just trying it out.

Yes, I want it bigger too, but my wife says otherwise Image. The water bill will be a killer she says.

I have it placed tight next to my 110 gallon tank under the house. Tonight my frontosas was checking it out thru the glass. If I go bigger then the cost also goes higher and higher, lol. Btw, with just the frog the water is very clear and you can see the gravel. It's a small pump but I think it will work great with a wet/dry or a fluid bed filter.

This LFS has a monster above the ground pond. Must be 16'x10'x30" That's how I got the idea, and I also found this site on the web to help me out. If it works out, I'll never buy another big tank again. I hope it doesn't leak.

Adam, I put my oscar in the pond with a cycled sponge filter, I can see his sides.

Hey that's great...I was just kinda thinking with instinct since I have never really even thought about doing what you did until a bout a week ago when I saw plans for an indoor pond (they are on my website for anyone who wants to check it out). If it's working with oscars then I say go for it... I definately wasnt trying to tell you to not do it just giving you some ideas I had. I'd definately like to see some pictures of it when it is all set up with the fish etc.

My 2 little oscars were very spooked at first. After I added my convict, they now eat and swim all over the pond. I think they like it.

Oh, yeah! My goal is to grow them to 10" long. Years ago I had a 55 gallon and my 2 year old oscar could only grow to 9" long. I'm trying to beat that size and if they breed for me that's a bonus.

That is strange an oscar should grow to full size -12" in a 55 gallon tank. In that pond they had better get to 12-14" or something is wrong... 2 years is plenty long enough to have seen it achieve full size too...
