I am writing for those who have had luck breeding different types of cichlids. The cichlid research association is right now running an expirament called "The Cichlid Egg Project" From this expirament they are trying to catalog the difference in egg sizes by collecting eggs from as many species as possiable. The information gathered will determine weather certain species spawn larger eggs with a fewer number, or smaller eggs but greater in number. The size of the egg will also influence how long the eggs will take to hatch: are they competeing against preditors, changing water levels, ect. And finally does the size of the egg determine the health of the fry.
So thats where you come in. The guy running the expirament Ron Coleman (PhD) is looking for breeders to donate around 20 eggs from the species they breed. He currently has data from over 230 species, but needs more. To learn more about his project check out
http://cichlidresearch.com/eggover.html he asks for NO MORE CONVICTS! (LOL)
