you have 3 options... blue convicts, pink convicts, or one of each :P choose wisely my son....

But seriously this is the only aggressive cichlid that stays small enough to be housed in 15 gallons... that would make a great breeding tank actually.

You can go with a few Exodon paradoxus (Buck-tooth Tetras). However, they will need more space as they mature. They are best kept in a shoal of 12+, since they will nip atone another in a small shaol. You can try it, for now. I have 25 of them in a 55. If you only get a few of them, you should consider adding plenty of plants. This is just one option. Image

just add a group of male bettas togeather!

By the way, no metter what your lfs says you can not have : oscars, terrors, red devils, Jack dempsy's, or any other of the frequently mantioned fish on this board. They will tell you its okay, but it is not!

Aggressive fish for a 15 gallon tank??

Why not tiger barbs. They are pretty aggresive. Ever put a few tiger barbs in the same tank with another fish with long fins(male betta, Angels) I made the mistake once of putting five tiger barbs in with a male betta. That male betta was so happy when I put him back in his tiny little bowl.

Tiger barbs like to stay in groups of 5+. I would put maybe 6-7 in a fifteen gallon tank.
