from what i've read, green terrors are more difficult to breed than most other new world cichlids. here is a link, which contains advice for breeding them. http://www.fishprofiles.com/profiles/cichlids/rivulatus.asp the picture in this profile does not do them justice, but the info is good just the same.
mine has laid eggs about 4 times.....very aggressive when protecting the eggs. I had to move her because I was worried about my oscar. She's only 5", and my oscar is 10. That tells something about there size/toughness ratio.
Chris Jay said he never bred them and only has the one GT. Some cichlids do produce eggs without a male present to fertilise them.
Btw chris images are not allowed in the signature on this bbs. and if you want to fix your email code you can find the codes here for this bbs http://www.cichlidfish.com/ubb/ubbcode.html Give us a yell if you need help mate ------------------ TONY The Proud Aussie Duboisi.com
Unfortunately, it is difficult to sex GT's at 2". However, once larger, you can tell by the coloration on the face and by the shape of the Dorsal and anal fin.
You mean, the ovipositor? That is only visible, during times of breeding, on the female. The males sexual tube, is pointed, whereas the female's ovipositor is blunt. Yes, you are correct about the nuchal hump, on the adult male, as well.

Look hard enough, and often enough, and you won't always have to wait untill they spawn. I haven't had many problems sexing full grown cichlids, even at pet stores sometimes.
