i have a 55 gallon tank not being used. i was thinking about african cichlids, but im not shure. its either that or...

idea1: 1 JD a breedin pair of cons and a breeding pair of jewels, salvini or firemouths.

idea2: a breedin pair of JDs and a convict so the male JD wont kill the female.

idea3:african tank set-up

i got it for about 169, 184 if you add the tax. got the light fixures, no canopy or stand though. well, want to put in an arrowana if i can, and i want a knifefish. seeing how i cant go with a clown or royal knife, i'll probably go with the less attractve african knife... so i can probably get an oscar or some sort of cichlid. maybe some medium sized cat, or some loaches.

or maybe a cichlid tank..but idont know what to put in it..
iono now, still gotta build a stand and let it cycle first. gonna be months b4 it gonna actually come down to buyin the fish =(.

Question about your idea's: why would you put a convict in with a breeding pair of JD's.

cons are cheap and good as sorry to say rag dolls. i thnk the male or female will make each other miserable, and mabe the convict could take some of the heat.

I paid 0$ for my 125 gal tank. My old HS biology teacher was retiring and we have staid in touch. He called me one day to see if I would take it off his hands because he did not want to leave it for the next teacher. Well of course I had to say yes . . .to bad I could not con his 165 gal from him!

got my 55gal for nothin too. was a "gift" that my uncle gave it ta me for my bday, but sense i got the 100, i gotta give it back. o welp, cant use so much electricity on fish anyways.

in my humble opinion, a 100 gallon tank would be too small for arrowana if you want it to grow to full size. they can reach 4" in length. for a cichlid tank, you could have a total of 4 out of any of the following:
jaguar, trimac, red terror, red devil or midas, texas, jack dempsey, green terror, cuban, salvini, oscar
several choices, all of which are very pretty and very neat fish
