Syphoning the Gravel

Postby dethmunkee on Sun Dec 17, 2000 12:46 am

to all of you oscar lovers out there,
I was wondering how would I syphon the gravel without an underwater filter. I already have the plants and gravel in the tank, how would I syphon it without moving the fixtures.
thanx for all of your help.

Syphoning the Gravel

I think you can buy hose contraptions or make one yourself. I assume you're familiar with hose siphon dynamics, you can use pump driven or simple gravity. you can have a cone wide opening at end and a filter over the intake so rocks can't go through....not sure if that's what you meant though...

YEAH I USED TO HAVE GRAVEL AND PLANTS WITH MY OSCAR FOR A LONG TIME BUT AS MY OSCARS GREW THE MORE MESSY THEY BECAME AND PLANTS DID NOT HAVE A CHANCE. SO I ONLY LEFT SOME LARGE FLAT ROCKS IN AND IT IS SO MUCH EASIER TO CLEAN.

yep, oscar tanks are just too hard to clean if you add gravel etc....for small fish where you don't care about siphoning the gravel it's ok...
