Have you seen the Jags attacking anything even chasing them? Jags are extremely territorial and will fight to the death it. They can hold thier own against an oscar so a convict wouldnt stand a chance especially if the Jags are working together. Are there bite, or tear marks on the one that died that is a sure sign that there was foul play involved. If there are no injuries I would wait and see if it was just a weak con... if another shows up with some injury or dead then you know it's time for a new home for the rest... until then it may have just been a sick or weak convict.

I am new to convicts and have just got some myself. I have them in a tank on their own for the moment but had to remove the male as he was attacting the female and almost killed her. So it may be one of of your male convicts doing it.

Sorry I meant to use a smiley at the top of my last post and not the angry face.

dont nessessarily assume it is a male doing it though, as the females (usually) are a lot more territorial and aggressive, ecspecially if they start showing a ton of pink (getting close to spawning time) I have a female that is the smallest in my convict tank (only 1 inch long at that) with 3 other convicts that range from 2 inches and a male as big as 3 1/2 inches. She rules the tank. forcing the others to stay at the top while she has the whole bottom to herself.
