What cichlid is a good one to breed?

Postby escaped convict on Fri May 04, 2001 3:48 am

I want to breed and sell to the stores. What cichlid commands a good price and is not to hard to breed? And is fairly easy to determine the sexes at an early age.

Thanks,

Well that is a tough decision to make. First of all you have to think about a lot of things. Oscars, Jewels, texas, red devils, and the likes are a dime a dozen. There is no way you can compete with the large breeders who breed all these fish and sell to LFS. What you should do is find a exotic type cichlid such as a Dimidiochromis Compressiceps, 6 or 7 stripe Frontosa's, etc... These fish are more expensive to buy but will pay more out to the breeders. Below is a pic of a Dimidiochromis Compressiceps.
