Texas Cichlid

I have :

1 8 inch pl*co
2 4 inch pl*cos
1 2 inch pl*co
1 4 inch red oscar
1 5 inch red oscar
1 4.5 inch Texas Cichlid
1 2 inch Texas Cichlid
in a 30 gallon tank with 2 powerheads on an ugfilter and a 220 gph power filter, and a large sponge filter(they work pretty good to kill the amonia levels...) I do water changes every 4-5 days.

So.... The 2inch texas was the same size as all the others when I bought the cichlids/oscars, but hasn't grown... I've tried everything to the point of over feeding to be sure that it is not caused by him not getting enough, he is a loner that mostly hides, but sometimes cums up behind a 5inch oscar and pulls a nip n run... kinda funny actually, but so I don't think he's oppressed either... what do you think???

I think your tank is WAY OVER STOCKED for starters. Also plecos shouldn't be in tanks together especially with that many in a 30 gal! I don't know what to tell you other than in that sized tank I dont think it's gonaa be growing very fast.

Using the 29 gal, if I increase filtration would I be ok, or is it the size that is the problem. Would going to a 55gal help for a while? (8 months?) After that I will have graduated and can get a 100+ tank. the texas has recooperated in a feeder guppy tank, although he is still acting kinda weird and I don't think he's eating, he is up and around. Is there a fish disease or something that would cause him not to grow. All the others I got with him have grown. Thanks

The two oscars alone will need a 75 gal AT LEAST in a few months. I don't know of any diseases that stop fish from growing. Other than a thing called stunted growth which occurs with bad tanks size and not enough filtering.
