Ideas for new tank set up

Postby aussie_oscar on Wed Mar 12, 2008 12:27 am

I have a spare tank, and I decided it's probably time to put something and someone in there. All my tanks I keep in a spare room and this one lives in the lounge room. Nothing in it. 6 feet long, a foot deep and about a foot and a half high. I did have my window cichlid in there but for one fish it was consuming a lot of money.

So now the tank is boring and I want something pretty.
We just got some new plecos in at work (and when i say pleco i mean pleco)
We have a few gold spots but I already have some, I think they're brought in sailfin and i haven't identified the other one yet because I saw them at a glance when I left there last.

Then there's the duboisi and the white knights, the hongii and the kribensis and the jack dempsy and the parrots and the yellow labs.
plus we have about 7 diff types of discus...I'm talking feature fish here. We also have several severums.
then there's the long fish who's scientific name I cant remember, but it's creamy yellow with black bands...name sounds like penis....Go on, laugh.
Dick felti, festivums, comprecicepps...I'm lost.

I was considering geting maybe 4 or 5 plecos, a couple from the different species, 6 marlboro red discus or 6 pidgeon blood, maybe two species there too, a few panda corys and peppered corys, maybe 10 - 15 cardinal tetras, neons nip too much, some scissortail rasbora or some silvertips, maybe some gold barbs, a couple of khuli loaches, maybe a spiney nosed eel and some bendigo scooters. any thoughts?

I've always wanted to have some tilapia buttikoferi, dovii, red terror festae, firemouths etc...
Oh, there were some really mean pretty bright yellow ones I just can't think of the name, their very territorial for their size and solid yellow....and not that small either but definitely smaller than oscars etc...ahhh don't leave me brain...
I just came across some pics of flower horn, man some of those things look like they're painted, tons of color

Hmm...I always tend to lean towards south american cichlids, don't know why. although I've stumbled across a juvenile giant gourami.

Perhaps one of those and while he grows I'll make him a bigger tank. I still want some of those plecos though.
Pretty!

Few I found lying around on the net, might take some of the ones we have at work.
