Also, I'm on the hunt for "the original" cichlidfish.com OSCAR page which had what was at that time very unconventional info since it tried to debunk the notion that it is impossible to visually sex oscars to choose a breeding pair. Well, its almost Easter right, time for an egg hunt, who can find the old page cached in some search engine? I believe the path from the root of the website was /oscars/ or /oscar/ or /oscars.html /oscar.htm or even /oscars.shtml or /oscars/default.shtml or somethink like that. Its likely easier to search by "content" of the page so see my post here which gives part of the content from that page:

Ah, cool, that's great! I guess it has 'sentimental' value to me, it (oscar sexing from a distance, pairing and breeding) was kind of the motivation and roots of this website

I think the site is great. Excited about the contest I have one Cichlid for 4 years he is 12 inches long. What is the deadline for the contest?

Great, thanks, and good to hear you like the contest! I'm open to suggestions as to a good deadline, not really sure, maybe one month for contest? too much? too little time to write one? Also as far as rules, one person CAN submit MORE than ONE article. The prize is bigger of course if your article wins out against other people's article and the more the competition the higher the prize. What do you guys think is a fair breakdown of the prize and should there maybe be a 2nd and 3rd place prize? I welcome any ideas....

Does the article need to be about cichlids or may we choose others such as gourami, catfish, plecostomus etc??? Or is it possible to do a profile on a community?

Hmm, that's a very good question, the preference would of course be an article about any 'cichlid' fish but I think we can make exceptions to the rule if there's something exceptional written about other kinds of fish, after-all we do have a general freshwater section on here. So my vote is yes, it's ok, go for it! If any other admins object to this please speak up

So the main thing is, it doesn't matter what kind of fish or fish topic the article is about, if it isn't factual and well written or have an interesting personal experience that people will find amusing it probably won't win. The good thing is that each person can submit more than one article (if i didn't allow this people could just create different new member accounts and pretend it was another person posting )

Worst that can happen is people will learn a little more about a fish your interested in.
Best that can happen is you can take cichlidfish's money
