Albino O w/3 Tigers

Postby Skripto on Sun Jan 27, 2008 4:00 am

I just bought my first two Tiger O's,and put them in my 55g.and the next day I got another Tiger(who had such a cool pattern)along w/a real nice Albino. So I put the two new ones in the tank.Soon my Tigers started to group up and in a few hours one of the Tigers started to open its mouth and bump the Albino. Also the Tiger that I got at the same time as the Albino was also getting in the action! Now all 3 just swim around the tank, while the Albino is basically at the bottom away from the other 3.I know it's still early, but will this bullying go on forever? And will the Albino have a problem feeding?..Please Help            Rob (New O owner)  :dontknow:

As I have been there and done that I want to say welcome come on in and have a seat. Now get ready for a lashing! To many O's in a 55 gallon to start. As they get bigger they most likely beat the other O to death. They also are very messy when they eat. So clean up is a must on a weekly bases. But that is just a start from an rookie and maybe 6 months into the fish world. More important info will come from the pros here at CichlidFish.com. Have fun !!!!! :occasion14:

As Illyoung stated.. TO many Oscars. U don't say how big they are.. BUT stil not a good situation.. They might all get along later on, but the albino might not do so good until then.. Best to remove the Albino out or use a divider to keep some peace but not a guarantee of them getting along once U remove the divider..

with that many Oscars at adult, U will need a 250 gal tank.. WHEN they pair up, then ONLY two  should be maintained per tank.  More tanks for the fry that wil come and they have like 200+ per spawn.. HOW are U going to take care fo them??

In a 55, U should have only one Oscar at adult.. U need more tanks and bigger tanks, to have this many if U want to keep them..
AND slap your hand at the LFS when U see a Oscar U just really have to have..  :nono:

Thank you for your advice.I just got back from work and noticed that the Albino was almost SIDWAYS! at the bottom of the Tank! While the other 3 were still swimming around.I'm gonna take the Albino back to store tomorrow.Theyre all about 3in.But man those 3 are pretty mean to that one.I feel so bad that I got him,I didn't want him to suffer like that. Those guys at PetSmart really got me to believe that 4 would be fine until I got 200g.when they mature. But I'll be keeping you both posted,Thanks again, hopefully I can get good at this.  Skripto :violent1:
