Question?

Postby ILLYOUNG on Wed Jan 16, 2008 11:01 am

I was wondering why my oscars tend to stay facing the heater? The heater is located in the back right corner. And most of the time when im not messing with them they stay right by the heater. There is a tall lamp that is over by the tank as well. but I dont know just wondering.

One of my O's loves looking at the heater light. He will randomly stare at it until the red light comes on, and then he's satisfied and just goes away. Later he'll come back and do it again.

Maybe they like the light on it (if your has one). Or they like the light from the lamp. When I have my door open and the sunlight hits the tank, my O's often stay in the light.

Your tank temp is a little high actually, bring it down to about 78 - 79 (allows the water to hold more oxygen)

How big is your tank?

Any other things for your fish to interact with? fish, golf balls, bubble wall?

I have to liken single specimen fish to battery hens - often deprived of stimulation and space.

A few more details might help on this one.

saying that, i had an oscar who would go bask in the sun light.
