Morning All.

Hope your all well.

Over the xmas holidays im getting a 120 Gal tank, to add to the collection. (its a 48" long, 24" wide and high)

Basically, its an upgrade for my 55, so my pleco is a little comfier in his old age.

But either way, heres my current set up

1 - Pleco (12")
2 - Severums (8")
1 - Whip tail catfish (7")
2 - Giant Danios (3") (trust me, i used to have a few, but you know the story)

Now heres the golden question.

Think i could keep a pair of chocolate Cichlids in there too?

The plan was to remove the Danios, and make the new tank into an amazon only afair, but to get this, i want plants.
Any tips for growing "salad" with my severums? they seem to have totally stopped eating greens now theyve grown up.

Depends on the indivduals some severums will be fine with them , others will clash with them because they're shaped similarly.

Thats, most likely a no then.

My males a bad temptered old bugger. Time to think again eh?

Like Stilllearnin says, hard to predict.  It's always a crap-shoot.  My Severums got along OK with my Chocolates. Right now they're in a 125 with a couple of Uarus, as well as a few grow-outs.  The 125 being a 6' tank, it's a bit easier for them to peacefully divide it between them.  I'm not sure how amicable they'd be in a 48" tank, but it might work.  Mine also got along well with my Oscars in that 125, but again, 4' might be a different story.  Whatevery you decide on, I'd suggest rearranging the decor when you introduce the new tank-mates.  Cleans the 'territory" slate, so that your Sevs are less likely to try and claim the whole tank.

mmhmm, plenty to think about then eh?

Ill see how the severums actually "look" when when their in the tank.

Main reason i went for height over length is to accommodate my pleco.

Evening All.

Well, yesterday was the big day.

New tank arrived a week or so ago, and i finally got round to adding gravel and water.

Its bloody huge 

Pleco went crazy for about half an hour (first time hes been able to move freely in about 10 years)

Sevs went in without any fuss (currently clearing their plant pot ready to spawn again)

Tanks reading a little ammonia at the minute, so ill keep an eye out incase it cycles again.

Used 55 gal from their old tank, decholrinated the new water, used mature filters to kep the bacteria going. Heres hoping i havn't somehow killed it all eh? lol

Actaully quite weird looking at the two fish which dominated my 55 Gal looking so small. Ill post pics eventually... Managed to slam my phone in a car door during xmas drunk rampage
