Help folks!! We have our house on the market and the realtor has "suggested" that we thin out some of the many tanks we have. Please, anyone... if you know someone who wants to stock a store, go crazy with several tanks, or just wants a few - any and all help would be appreciated!  These beautiful powder blue fish with black markings should NEVER be confused with convicts - they are an entirely different species, and way more peaceful!  Pics of the dad:   Super prices on ready to mate family minded fish!

Sorry about that - I just updated my profile.  We're in Colorado, but don't mind shipping throughout the continental US.  Thanks for letting me know I didn't have my profile up to date!

I see this post is quite old but just curious if your still trying to find homes for them.

Yes, I still have a number of them but am in a bit of a quandry on how to ship at this time of year.  We have snow on the mountains now, and our mornings are around 30 degrees - while most of the rest of the nation is still warm.  If someone can tell me how best to ship with these conditions everywhere - I would be grateful!

EDIT: we now have lots of experience in winter shipping - don't let it scare you either, we have a 100% success rate this winter so far (as of 2-26-08)!

brettjurgens - are you still wanting some?  If so about how many and what size were you looking for?  I'll know more about shipping them later this week/first of next week - so we'll be able to "talk turkey" then.

I would take four or five. How many do you have? Size doesn't matter. (LoL)

styrofoam is your friend (lined boxes are best reguardless of temps) 
If it's cold at your place and warm where your shipping to use low/small heat packs (like 6 or 12 hour).

If it's cold in both places use 24-48hr heat packs,otherwise if your useing bag buddies and oxygen you'll be fine.

Yeah, I guess really the only difference in shipping in the winter vs the summer is the size of the box and thus the cost of the shipping.  Meaning that the bags are done the same (Ship Right and medical oxygen), but now the box has to be bigger so that the heat pack isn't up against the bags - there has to be some insulation between the bags and the heat pack - then ALL of it inside the styrofoam liner.  No problem, just a bit more expensive.

I like the idea of the various types of heat packs (time wise) - makes great sense.  I think that regular priority mail is now out of the question for us.  In the summer they ran anywhere from 2-4 days delivery - and with cold weather in various places, that could end up being 6 days or more if bad weather causes delays somehow - thus ending up delivering fish-cicles.

Well, we now have lots of experience shipping in the dead of winter successfully - so whoever still wants some - I have a "winter fire sale" going on!  Mating age - these guys are ready to start families, so here's your chance to get "lots of fish for little money"!  $5.00 each or $15 for 2 pair or whatever combination of 4 fish you want.
