Postby putter on Sat Oct 06, 2007 10:03 am

Hi, just signed up, I am thinking of starting a 77 gal salt setup, hoping to house fish and coral. Have been doing some reading on the forums/web and will soon be buying the tank, so I hope your all ready for a bunch of questions. Looking forward to chatting and with luck one day sharing knowledge with you all.

Nope, never had a tank of this size before at all, and have never played with salt water. I am from Canada, I assume it was the "gal" abbreviation that makes you think I was in the UK? There seems to be a couple people up to speed with salt tanks, I have been reading some of their posts in the forums here, anyhow nothing is set in stone yet, will research things further, but I would really like to do a salt setup. Thanks for the welcome to the forums BTW.

Any idea what types of fish and corals might interest you? Marine aquariums, especially reef tanks, require lots of patience and stable water parameters, but are also very interesting. In your research you've probably read about live rock, protein skimmers, lighting, etc. Let me know if you have any specific questions. I guess you could start by finding out what type of fish you like (and whether they are reef safe), and what corals interest you, and then set up your tanks around the requirements of those livestock.
