CichlidFish.com - Fish That Think.

Quick & dirty video.  Got this fish from a friend, who recalls that it's some kind of Herichthys.  New one to me.  Some pics I've found of pantostictus look similar, but inconclusive.  Anyone recognize?

Not a clue. Looked a little Jack Dempsey-ish until he turned around and I saw the nuchal hump, and also there's no red line on the top of the dorsal -- but by the way he looks, my vote is that he's Central American.

Yeah, when I first saw him I thought, "what an odd-looking Green Terror!"  Herichthys does seem reasonable.  Another oddish thing is that that color bar along the lateral line washes out at night, and all you see is a spot a little to the rear of the gill plates.  The yellow fins are really interesting in good light.  He looked better in my (more brightly lit) 125, but didn't get along well with the Sevs & Uarus.  Somehow caused them to fight with one another.
