Hole in the head, Not.

Postby Sal on Tue Jul 17, 2007 10:47 pm

Okey, well hello everyone. I have a rather weird problem, my fish Sal, has developed holes in his head, we don't think it's hole in the head, because it just isn't progressing the same. It comes and goes, and has been this way for a few months. Some things he does is sit against the heater, and  it seems to worsen the holes, no du right? Well, i turned the heater up, and now he has holes with blood spots, which has never happened before. Anyway, I need a little advise, I don't know much about Hole In the head but, and info would be nice. So tell me what you think and what I can do to help.
Thanks.

Sounds like Hole-in-the-Head to me.  Main concern is water quality.  You need to get a baseline measurement of your nitrogen readings:  ammonia/nitrite/nitrate.  The first two should read zero, while nitrates need to be below 40ppm -- below 20 is preferable.  What is your current water change regimen? What is your water-change routine?
