How to Catch a Central American Cichlid

Postby Mark Stone on Fri Feb 23, 2007 4:07 am

When I've kept Centrals (specifically Red Devils, Jaguars and especially Jack Dempseys) I've learned that the best way to catch them is to remove any and all decorations from the tank; put in an overturned flowerpot; then after a couple of days, run up to the aquarium fast. The fish dives into the flowerpot! Then all you have to do is simply pick up the flowerpot and you've got him! (Cover the top with your hand so he doesn't jump out--) Should work with any species that likes to hide and peek out at you!

haha, cute ...  maybe if I ever get a JD, I might play with him a couple times like that ...  if I run up to my O he just runs up to me and dances for more food.
