is it a good idea to have an oscar with an blue acara the oscar is three times the blue acara he chases him but cant quit catch him but he douse most of the time get him and bite his fins off

I'm thinking this mix would be ok if the Pulcher is large and the Oscar is small when they start off. I think I remember that the Blue Acaras get to 8 or 9 inches but are not very aggressive. Probably would need about a 75g tank with rocks and hiding places. What size tank are you starting them out in?

i have a 60 gal the oscar started out bigger but today the blue acara was swimming pretty much right next to him wat douse it mean when the blue acara is going crazy at u through the glass too

I keep a pair of blue acaras w/ my oscar in a 55, planning to get them in their own tank soon.   But once when I turned the lights on the blue acaras were flipping out, dashing around the tank, nearly leaping out of the tank.  They were making the gravel hit the glass when they took off!  Usually though they do pretty good, the oscar is about 1 1/2 inches larger than the female and about 2 inches larger than the male, he's also henpecked!  They have had a much darker coloring since I have added the oscar, their vertical stripes are very visible.  I hope your blue acaras start not getting picked on, they're really cool fish!

that usually means they're stressed

I have an Acara in with an O, however this is in a large community aquarium (640l), the smallest fish being a lacustris rainbow and My O being very mild mannered.  They get on OK now although they do live at opposite ends of a 6'6" tank, in the past they had a few run ins mostly caused by the Acara as the lights went down and the O settled down on the gravel for the night. 

It depends not only on size (my O is now double the size of the Acara) but individual space and providing the 'victim' of af any aggression somewhere to hide.  My Acara shares a large cave with a Gibby plec (best mates), and keeps everybody else out but the 2 larger cichlids have also been known to be out together swimming along the front.  (My O shares his 'nest' with a torpedo barb, the same fish that I had reservations about putting in there, but decided to give it a go)

the oscar and blue acara are fine now there like best friends i tried takin him out but oscar whent scitso and when i put him back the oscar was fine so now ino not to separate them cuz oscar almost jumped out the tank lol thanx for the advise
