Hi,
Unless you plan you upgrade your aquarium to a much larger tank your gonna be looking at rehoming both of these fish very soon, what are you keeping them with? Any chance you could take them back to the shop you bought them from and trade them?  tmbsup. Depending on what you are keeping them with I would trade them asap especially that texas!

What fish are in your tank at the mo? To be honest two convicts would max out this tank on thier own, they would also terrorise you tetra and then eat them once large enough! Did you trade any of your fish in at ur lfs?

What fish are actually in ur tank at the mo? I'm lost and confused lol  :dontknow:. Sounds too me like u have caught the fish bug, we all have it. U know u go into the lfs and want about ten of every thing lol. You just have to remember that for ur fish to bloom and to be ur pride and joy you need the balance to be right in ur tank/s. Bet you end up buying more tanks  :occasion14:

I HAVE A TEXAS CICHLID AND HE'S ABOUT 81/2 INCHES, THEY DON'T GROW VERY QUICKLY I'VE HAD MINE FOR 2YRS. I GOT IT FROM A FRIEND AND HE TOLD ME TOOK HIM A YEAR TO START SEING A BIGGER DIFFRENCE, I WOULD SAY THAT HE I KIND OF AGGRESSIVE I ALSO HAVE IN MY TANK A JEWEL CICHLID WHO IS 3" HAS GROWN 1" SINCE 1 1/2 YRS AND TWO AFRICAN CICHLIDS ONE IS 2"  AND THE OTHER ONE IS 4" I GOT THE AFRICAN CICHLIDS AT THE SAME TIME THEY WERE BOUGHT ABOUT 11 MONTHS ONE IS A BLUE COLOR AND THE OTHER IS LIKE A YELLOW COLOR NOW THE BLUE ONE GREW ONLY 1" AND THE YELLOW ONE GREW 3" HE IS MORE AGGRESSIVE AND I NOTICED EVERYTIME HE'S GETTING READY TO GROW HIS MOUTH SWELLS AND HE CANT EAT FOR THREE DAYS WHILE HE'S CHANGING... SO I GUESS IT COULD VARY ON HOW THEY GROW, SO I GUESS WE HAVE TO BE PATIENT.. MY CICHLIDS LIVE IN A 55 GALLON TANK I ALSO HAVE THREE APPLE SNAILS THE TEXAS CICHLID LIKES TO MOVE THEM AROUND IN HIS MOUTH FROM TIME TO TIME...THESE CICHLIDS ARE VERY EASY TO TAKE CARE OF...BUT IF THEY GROW ANY BIGGER I'M GOING TO PUT THEM IN A BIGGER TANK PRETTY SOON...

I HOPE THIS HELPED SOME!!!

ok Betsy, like my cichlids are blue and yellow, no names, just blue and yellow, that really narrows it down for us lady and his lips begin to swell and can't eat for three days when he begins to change, what is he changing his pants or something. do u know anything about biology not many fish if any will grow a noticeable amount over night, also did you read the post that you replying to? "I heard they can get to about 8-10 inches" your answer would be as follows " yes they can i have a chicilid that is 8 1/2 inches long."  Also we might as well give you a lesson on typing, there is a key called "Caps Lock" yes thats right it's located right next to the "a" key next time when your typing make sure that is not on. another possible cause for your excessive capitals is the shift key. this is located beside the "z" key or the "?" key make sure you are not pressing this the entire time your typing.
Some People should not Own Aquariums
Great Advice Betsy.
