Lets see. They get huge and do it fast. I got a 60gal for my new apt.  I had african cichlids.. 1" baby oscars..LOL They grew 7 " in less than a year. out grew it.  LOL I have tried so many fish with them I have found Oscars if you have fish in the tank and add them last they do better.. I never had probloms with them eating tank-mates. My Black Jack Dempsy is now dwarfed. I had more probloms adding new fish after they were in there for a while couse they are a rather timid cichlid and they got picked on. I found getting a different kind of pet worked better. I have a lil Gulf turtle in there and they love him. and I have a 3" catfish that was in there long before I found the oscars and a Bichor and the Oscars never bothered them. I have a --> Managuinese ( Aztec chiclid, Jag cichlid) in there and he was a mean fish at first then I removed him and the are twice his size.. now the 3 of them do great together. But as fish go.. Love your Oscars and keep a pair in a big tank.. 2 happy Oscars are way more fun than a tank full of boaring tropical fish anyways.
