Too many convicts

Postby Crusher on Sun Dec 17, 2006 1:18 pm

[color=orange][color=orange]What would someone recommend my brother does with his convicts which seem to be in a breeding frenzy.  In the last week he has had fry pop up in 3 different parts of his 150 gallon tank.  It's a hospital maternity ward.  He does not use a thermometer in the ankh but I think the water just stays naturally warm.  I suggested he put colder water in after cleaning it each time and get another tank and separate some of the males and females.  I'm too new at this so I'm not sure what to do.  In the mean time what does anyone suggest I do with all the frys before they get any ideas about breeding.

Take it he has a convict community in there? He should def get a thermometer, and yeah like you said maybe keep the temp a little lower, thats if its safe to do so! But too be honest its nearly imposible to keep cons from spawning. Unless you seperate the pairs, maybe he should think about using a divider if getting another tank isn't poss. With the existing fry if their left in the tank soon after they become free swimmers thier likely to be eaten, its difficult to pass convict fry on to any one so I dont really know what to suggest  :dontknow:.

I'm sure if ur patient u'll get some better advice from others here, good luck x
