hey dont know if this is emergency or not but i need a quick answer bout my oscars poop. it looks different then usual and i need to know if its normal. its usually like long rabbit poop almost and i just looked at him/her ( dont know yet) and it looks whitish, almost clear with tiny brown tirds i guess at the bottom. it is not any kind of worm as far as i know because it jus doesnt look like a worm. it looks like the normal tirds but a different color and texture

What did you feed them that was different?? I wouldnt worry to much right now,  just get him back on his normal diet and see what happens in 24 hr..  NOW a stingy whitish poop with NO brown in it,  is not good and can be treated with meds.. BUT wait and see how he does in a weeks time with just pellets... 

what do you do if your fish has stringy white poop?
i've seen it before on some of my dads fish...
what is it? and what can we do to fix it if it continues?

Depends on the fish and what U are feeding them and IF they have not eaten in a while, then start eating again, then the casing the poop travels in will be whitish.. Most cichlids I have seen with a long white line of poop have a intestinal parasite.. they dont' eat and get skinny.. this is also called wasting disease mostly caused by the intestinal paraisite.. SO answer these:

1. WHAT kind of cichlids/other is this?? American or African cichlid??

2. Has the fish been off of food for a few days to a week or more??

3. When did U first notice the white poop? as in days to weeks ago??

Meds are easy to get and only take a week.. Another tank is needed thou so a 10gal wil help U out here or bigger if the cichlid is over 6"...
U can however med in the main tank, just takes more meds..
