This is the 5th time they've laid eggs. The eggs have never gotten eaten, but no babies ever survive. I think the wrigglers were getting eaten. They are wrigglers now and i have put them in a mesh cage in the tank. I was wondering if wrigglers need special care from the parents still? They are still stuck to the rock they were laid on save two of the wrigglers. The father (texas) helped fan the babies and protect them, but after they hatched, the mom convict always keeps him away. So he might have been the one eating them. Or, maybe the pH is wrong in my tank that cannot support the little guys. Could someone help me out with this? I want to make sure they survive this time... >.< I want to see what they look like.

Could be a lot of different things going on.  A lot of "new parents" eat the eggs or the fry the first few times they spawn.  If the tank is in a heaviy foot traffic area they might just get nervous and eat them.  Don't know much about that particular cross, but it's also possible that the fry from that pairing just aren't viable long-term.  What size tank do you have them in?  What is your pH, by the way?

IF you want to keep them, best to leave MOM with them.. Get a divider for just the parents and let them raise them..
As they are just wigglers, they dont' need anything right now... IT is when they go free swim as in they are swimming good, then yoiu can feed them.. Get some first bites from Hikari for their first meal for a good two weeks.. then change to VERY FINE crushed flake to a fine powder like..

YOU know that these are HYBRIDS and should not leave your tank.. YOU need to  seperate these two so they can not spawn again.. 

Barb, dont mean to be rude, but it might be best to explain why hybrids shouldn't be bred. Just as some times people think that hybrids are just rare fish without knowing all of the cosequences! The more people know the more they will understand ur advice, which is ALWAYS valuble
