It is hard to judge how big these guys really are in a pic, until you see them in person.. tmbsup

Nice fish, and nice shots!  :icon_salut:

Is your H. sp. "Turquoise" the same fish that I normally see referred to as H Carpintis "Escondido"?  Looks the same to me.  Some of the info I've found suggests that the name was from the Escondido River, where they were found.  In any case, it's a nice-sounding name for vernacular and marketing use.

BTW, you were right about those microphthalmus -- Lost 2 of the 4 to no apparent reason (though I've separated them from the pollenis they were in with just in case).  :sad10:

Right now I only have 22 tanks and 8 stock tubs running.

No
H carpintis "Escondido" is a  more colorful H.carpintis , ironically not from Escondido (city or river)

H. sp. "Turquoise" is a seperate species also sometimes called H.sp."cazones",they only come from the Rio cazones.
  They look different as adults.
Not sure who hosts this picture but it's not mine.
But this is what adults grow into. The picture was taken by Don Danko  of some of the adults orginally collected.

bummer  :sad5: it'd be nice to see more people keep and spawn those guys since there's so few in the hobby.
