Parasite on White Convict

Postby lisafosc on Sat Oct 21, 2006 3:34 pm

Please Please Please HELP......
My White Convict started off with two small pink lumps on its tail, I was advised that this was a parasite and to treat my whole tank with meds which I have done twice. The parasite is now white and there are six lumps rather than two, I fear this maybe Nodular disease.....

Hi, Lisa:

These things are sometimes tough to diagnose remotely (or even in person).  Is there any way you can post a pic showing the cyst?

I found some information on the bumps.. seems SOME think they are the beginning of Cauliflower Disease and is more of a fungus than a parasite.. this fungus disease looks like a culiflower when it gets bigger, and not as round as it is when small.. IS this what you see now???

Seems your needs a diffferent  med as more are showing up, so maybe some a stronger Fungus  medication is needed...
So with that being another option here as we can't get a biopsey, Furan2 or any kind of other STRONG meds for fungus should take care of it.. Any way for you to get a 38 lt (10 gal) tank so you can med just him?? This might mess up your bio in your tank.. Also you just need a heater, small filter.. NO gravel and use the tank water from the main tank so you dont' have to acclimate him into fresh... this way you can see how he does and not have to worry about over medication the other fish..
