re-priming the filter is a breeze, i figured a way to get it reprimed in like than 10secs after turning it off for a water change. ill lift the handle then ill unplug it. and when i have to turn it back on ill plug it in then push down the handle

Never do this! you are stressing the impellarand motor! Always when shutting down unplug 1st then lift hose connect switch . Restart always connect hose assembly ,flip switch ,then wait a few minutes then plug it in. BTW i never turn mine off during wchanges just for maint. The way you discribed it you are going to burn up your motor soon, read directions and follow them.
