For all those fish you want. you would need a 200gal tank.. So if you dont' have the room for one that big, best leave off the jag,and the white catfish.. NOW I do know that some tanks now are not as long, like my 125 gal which is 6feet long, 72".. they are now making them shorter in length, 5 feet and wider.. Please keep in mind that Oscars like to swim not stay in place  and if you can find a tank that is longer than 5feet, your bigger cichlids wil be happier.. Most tanks now are only 4 feet long but wider at 18 to 24 in.. So if you want to keep some nice cichlids, like the Oscars and get a pair, best to get at the start a 125 gal to a 150.. And this is going to get crowed once they spawn AS they might kill all the others in the tank.. Any time you get pairs, they fight to keep the young alive, which places everyone else in danger..

NOW another choice for you, IF you want just the Oscars  then a 120 wil do you good.. But that is just a 48"x24"x24"..
And what are you going to do with the baby Oscars?? Another tank is needed.. Mom and dad dont' tolerate them for long periods.. They will spawn again and will eat them as now they are a threat to the new nest..
..
IF you want to TRY your combo suggested, MINUS one Oscar,  then a 150 OR 180 gal and up is going to be needed.. This wil give them all  room to grow and get along better..  The 150 is  72x18"x28"  the 180 is  72"x24"x24"..

SO on your question of your combo working together??? YES, WITH some left off..NO pairs....
ON the tank size being big enough for what you want???      NO,,, not really...

Ahh, collage..Well, you best wait then IF you live in a dorm, most won't let you have a tank bigger than a 29 gal..
Most larger fish stores have the bigger tanks.. I know of several that live off campus and have bigger tanks.. IF you want to get a big tank, and live off campus,  check your local newspaper for ppl getting rid of tanks.. I got most of mine this way.. YOU get everything, filter, stand and sometimes the fish!! Try for a 55  gal or bigger and stay with the smaller cichlids until you can get more experience keeping cichlids..KEEP most of the water if possible for cycling reasons...
YOU can't just add water, add fish feed and their you go.. A lot more is envolved.. Any friends that keep tanks you know can help you out.. AND  The cichlids you want are going to be here, so dont' worry about not being able to have any later..  Best of luck.. let us know what you decide to do..

WOW thats great!! Now thats a nice sized tank.. BUt watch what U place in it as most of what you want, get big fast.. So maybe do a combo of ONE oscar and a severum or another cichlids that gets big but not more than the Oscar will and NOT be aggressive.. Oscars are NOT aggressive when young.. so be aware of that if you get one at the fish store as they are only 3"..

REMEMBER about cycling the tank IF you dont' find a way to keep most of the water,, up to  half is needed.. Good luck, keep US posted..

I think she means the water that was in the tank before you aquired it, unless it was empty.  Was it empty?  and what else came with it?
