Curviceps(Dwarf flag cichlid)

Postby frogguy1 on Thu Jun 17, 2004 4:51 pm

I bought a male and female curvicep and they are beautiful fish. I have learned some info from the internet, but just wanted to know if anyone else had these fish. They are very peaceful, basically have the same tempermant as the ram cichlids, but in my opinion are better looking. I have them in a 55g Amazon basin community tank with 4 silver dollars and 3 corys. I will soon be adding a dwarf pleco of some kind. Has anyone else kept curviceps. Here is a picture of a fully mature curvicep
Its entire name is Laetacara CurivicepsImage

careful when they start to spawn, theyll possibly get the corys. but all sounds pretty, cool. generally drawf cichlids like cribs rams and apparently this fish are all very similar. and seeing as their small (really small by cichlid standards)you could keep more then one pair in that size tank.

or...(more interestingly)

you could put in a pair of kribs and a pair of rams. the competitiion will keep fry numbers to a minimum, and the constant displaying will be pretty cool to watch.

good luck.

Curviceps(Dwarf flag cichlid)

Postby AASPBY on Tue Jun 13, 2006 10:27 pm

(Hello, I'm new here)

I have two Curviceps in my aquarium. I was told that they were peaceful, community fish. But recently I lost the majority of my fish...all due to being attacked. I thought I had gotten rid of the killer, thinking they were the Killies, but today, another one of my fish was attacked. In the aquarium there is:

Angels
Rams
Cories
Curviceps

I'm starting to wonder if it was the curviceps that were attacking the other fish. When I lost most of my tank, I lost my angels, rams, and a few others. So it was just the curviceps and one bolivian ram. Is it possible that it was them and I should take them back to the store?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! What size tank are your curviceps in? Is it a new setup, or has it been established for awhile? Anything new been added lately?

It's a 29 gallon. The angelfish will be moving onto a 180 soon. Um...No, it's an established tank. Nothing is new, really.
