Some Oscar Questions

Postby Mako Man111 on Sun Jun 11, 2006 10:46 am

Ok guys i'm considering getting an oscar and it will be put in either a 75 gallon or 100 gallon tank and I have a few questions before I do: :)

1) If I got a 75 gallon tank, would this be enough to sustain an oscar with a pleco(that I currently have in my 20 gallon tank with some other tetras, gouramis and barbs)?

2) I go on vacation a lot in the summer, would the oscar be able to survive a week with out food?

3) Is there any special filtration system I need for one of these?

4) Will I have any trouble feeding the pleco some fresh veggies if the oscar is in the tank?

Thanks guys

Some Oscar Questions

1) Yes

2) Yes, once it's grown. I'd make feeding arrangements for a juvie.

3) Special? Not really, but be sure it's adequate or better. Many good systems to choose from. On my 75 I use a Penguin 350 and an Aquaclear 110. Keep up with your water changes.

4) My O's could hardly care less about veggies. I have no problems getting food to the pleco. My perch & sunfish are a different story.
