OSCAR SICK?

Postby max33e on Sun Jun 11, 2006 7:50 pm

i have 2 albino oscars one seems extremely healthy but the other has loose scales that seem to be falling off, he has had them since i got him. I dont know what it is from. He is the smaller of the 2 but i have not seen them fight or even posture at eachother, in fact they sleep side by side under the same rock. IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT MIGHT BE CAUSEING THIS OR ANY SOLLUTIONS PLEASE POST AN ANSWER. i dont know if this really qualifies as a 911 emergency, but im not really shure what could be causing it. I try and take the best care of my oscars that i possibly can so any suggestions would be appreciated.

ThankYou

OSCAR SICK?

Hi, Max:

First, can you post a picture of the O you're worried about? Would help us out in guessing what might be wrong.

Do you have water test kits? If so, can you tell us the readings for ammonia and nitrite?

OSCAR SICK?

thankyou for your interest in my problem. i still have not figured out what was wrong but in about three days from my original post my oscar seems to be almost completely healed from what ever was causing his problem. I am still curious what was wrong, but am some what less concerned. He appears to be happy and healthy. So i guess i just panicked for no reason.

thankyou

Max

Could be a problem from the LFS where you purchased him. Poor water conditions, etc. Now he is in your care, with improved water, and maybe less stress, the problem is clearing up.
Its never to early to worry, so if in doubt, post your question.
Keep an eye on him, and the other one just to be sure.
