Eric (forgot his last name) at Wisconsin U. had a website up called CHOP (the Cichlid HOme Page) which has since disappeared. There were literally thousands of species of Cichlids listed in his site, and he never claimed that he had them all named. It is a true tragedy to our hobby that his site disappeared, I've attempted to contact him to see if I could mirror it somewhere but have not been able to. Additionally, reading in the SACSG, where Alf Strasburg and other true scientists discuss South American Cichlids (a forum where I am afraid to post, friends, they are so far above my little Oscar head) we discover that new species of Cichlid are discovered and named all the time. The Cichlid family is far and away the largest family of freshwater fishfaces there is! So, mobilecal, you have a lifetime of interesting study ahead; one does not know where to start.Originally posted by mobilecal
