I bought two tiger oscars from the lfs like two months ago and one has considerably larger fins and a longer tail. I'm pretty sure it's a fan-tail Oscar. Instead of it being a benefit for the fish it seems to just get in the way(the tail). It's a lot clumsier than my other Oscar. It's also always getting sliced in the middle. One more thing, his body is shorter in length than my other oscar if you don't include the tail. but with the tail included it's longer. It makes him look ugly, not beautiful like other people say about fan-tails. I've heard that fan-tail oscars are a product of inbreeding. Has anyone else heard this?
