hi.

may u advice me as to how i may successfully pair a jag. i have now a male jaguar about 6" in a 35 gal tank. i'm looking for a female, but i'm afraid that the male may kill the female if i introduce it to him. do you have any techique or procedure as to how i may successfully pair them. i'm beginning and having interest in breeding different cichlids especially new world cichlid and jag is my favorite.

thanks in advance.

God Bless.

First - you'll need a bigger tank - 55-75 gallons min.. (and some people will say thats way to small)

If you can watch them constantly introduce them both to the tank before one claims a territory and be ready to seperate them . Better chance of them needing seperated then them getting along ,just the nature of jags.

Better option - use a good divider and let them spawn though the divider. Jags have no problems or objections to spawning through a divider.

hi.

thanks for the reply, surely it help me alot. i'm thinking of putting may male and female jag in a pond with some native tilapia about 1" and decorating the pond like in the wild. do you think this way i may have a successful pairing or it will lessen the aggression of the male to the female jag (since i've added a target or third party fish). just want to make sure that i'll have no floating female jag in my pond or tank. by the way i'm from philippines and it's very hard to find such cichlids like jaguar, red tiger, dovii and other guapote cichlid here.

thanks in advance.

God Bless All.
