Ousted Texan

Hi all...question. We have a Texas Cichlid named Houston. He is approximately 6.5". He is beautiful, however, he is very misunderstood by the other members of our fish clan. This poor guy has been moved more times then I can tell you. He started out with our Oscars, that was a joke. Our Tiger O basically told him right off the bat, you are not wanted here. So we moved him with our RTC, well, Houston was not thrilled with this 14" monster. So, we moved him to our cichlid tank.....WAY too many personalities in that tank. Now he is in a very small tank with a green phantom pleco and a hifin pleco. He is miserable! He eats occasionally, looks sad and pathetic. Is there ANY fish that is compatible with him, or is he destined to live alone? Help please.

How long is it until you open up that 1300g for business? You mentioned your husband is going to build it at your new home? I'm thinking that Houston will be fine once he moves into the 1300 with Jag, but til then it might be an idea to buy or make a tank divider so you can move him back to a larger tank, maybe with the Oscar(s), without getting hurt or doing some damage. And the answer is no -- Texas Cichlids don't get along with anything at all (at least in my experience), even though they don't have the firepower of your Jaguar. --Mark:cool:

Hey there Mark, the 1300 gallon will probably be within the next 6 months. Until then, poor Houston is lonely! You had a good idea, think I might get a divider and close off part of one of the tanks. I can do the O tank, husband put the mom and dad convicts in there with their 200 or so children! Needless to say neither Oscar, catfish or anyone else is allowed on that end of the tank...they see to that. So I'm thinking the cichlid tank is the way to go. I will divide the tank and give Houston his own part of the duplex. I sure hope this works. I'd hate to buy another tank, moving the ones we have will be a challenge. thanks for the help
