White worms in tank...

Postby woff32 on Fri Mar 24, 2006 7:19 pm

I am in week four of my tank cycle with a 8 - 9" Red Devil. I was feeding him Cichlid Gold about 4 large pellets a day, now I am down to 2 a day. I am having prblems with Planaria as my local fish shop calls it. They recommended me to feed him less. I also did my first water change today about 15 gallons out of a 75 gallon tank with a vacuum. How often should I perform the water changes? All help is greatly appreciated.

The good thing is planaria aren't harmful to the fish.
The bad news is they make your tank look horrible.

75 gallon tank ya say? Adding a 9 Watt UVS to that system will help reduce their number, but it's not the cheapest route to go.

Best cheap way to impact on an over-abundance of planaria:
Stop feeding for 5-7 days.
Do a vac & 50% PWC every day or every other day.
When you go back to feeding, feed every other day.
