What's up with that?

Ok, what's up with the ppl down in the usenet news thing down at the bottom of the main forum page. I had replied to post from caboose down there and caboose replied back and after that things just got ugly. Do they not get the same format to look at if they aren't members or some thing because apparently they can't follow a simple thread. If you get the chance check it out in the freshwater misc.

Honestly I don't know a thing about the newsnet people. I just read your post and your right those guys need to take a pill! To caught up in the right and wrong and black and white of the hobby, and feel they need to slap down anyone who doesn't know as much as they seem to! Just stick with the cichlidfish forums if you ask me. If you start to think to much with this hobby you kill it and it's not much fun anymore, keep it simple and just enjoy watching your FISH!!!! Just one man's opinion:)

The newsgroups are a linked , and not part of this site.
If you have ever been on one, you need a reader, and its not based like this website. Threads can be confusing, thats why the all the upitness over not copying and pasteing in the thread.
, and no moderators, so you get what you get. There are some excellent ppl on in the newsgroup, Frank, Elaine, netmax, to name a few. Also Mark Stone from here was on them a lot. If you do post in the newsgroups, don't have to thin of a skin, flames and flamers can be found hanging out in there.

Like Fuzzy said newsgroups run nothing like you see them on this forum.

Where you see "Re:whatever topic" newgroup users don't see that (when the reply comes from a forum) and even though posts and replies as seen here show under the topic you reply to,the don't always display like that in newsgroups.

Time and posting order isn't always the same either - I'm not sure what cichlidfish has it set at but I don't think they're 100% live.

Thanks for explaining, Fuzzy and Stilllearnin. I think I'll just stick to the forum from now on. Don't want to get them riled again. LOL.

New guy

Postby JoseCuervo on Sat Feb 25, 2006 9:27 pm

Hello, Hello, Hello.
Well i just joined the club today so this is my first post.Just wanted to introduce myself and make small talk until i get the hang of how things go on this site.
I have an Oscar, his name is Jose Cuervo. I've had him only 8 months when i brought him home he was 2 inches, and now he is 7.5 inches. im curious as to howmany times people feed their oscars. i feed mine frozen shrimp, he hates the pebbles, and i get him feeder fish about once ever 2 months.. but i feed him morning before work, 8 1/2 hours later when i get off work and then again right before i go to sleep. Is that too much...

Hey Mel, I'm new too! This is a great site, folks are very friendly and knowledgeable too. I'm just getting ready to set up my NEW 55g cichlid community tank--nothing like oscars or jds, just firemouths and cons, but I'm pretty amped.

It amazes me how fast the oscars can grow--I hope to have just one at some point--a "water dog" as someone here told it. I have read in alot of other places that using feeder fish isn't the best thing healthwise for cichlids as they can be carrying all kinds of parasites and diseases--unless you breed your own. Just thought I'd pass that on!! And welcome to another noobie!:)
