Just wait a little while and your Jag (Managuenese) can solve that problem :D

New Cichlids!!!

what!? This little thing will eat my fish when he's bigger???? I was told that he would be fine in a cichlid tank. Is this another one of those instances when your "NEED" to have a fish out weighs your intelligence on species domination????????? YIKES...

Jags get big mean and really really territorial , grow to 15 inches and don;t play well with others.

Most books or sites about them start of something like

The Jaguar cichlid is a top predator

They are Parachromis managuense (little cousin of dovii) and sell under the names Managuense,Jaguar , Aztek cichlid

They're beautiful fish, though. Just think of it as a great reason to get a big tank for Christmas!

Emphasis on the word "big" -- but they are a ferocious species, just like their "cousins" from Central America (RD, Dovii, etc.) so keeping a Jag is a long-term comittment to a single fish in a very large aquarium. From my reading and studying of CA Cichlid species recently (because of my recent babysitting experience), consensus indicates that to keep one Jag requires 200 gallons or larger aquaria, and even then he'll claim the entire room as his property and try to get through the glass to attack your family dog. However, IMHO Jags are one of the prettiest Cichlids there are, especially in the correct lighting. --Mark:cool:

Well, now I know why he stalks my cat!!!!! Good heavens....he is so cute and sooo small. It's hard to believe, but then again, this is a woman who owns a Red Tail Catfish!! He too was little and cute!! Now he's a foot long and growing!! SO, I guess I will HAVE to invest in that humungous tank i've been eyeing in the LFS. I'll have to sell my first born, but I'll do anything to keep my fish!!!!!!! :D
