Help with convict fry

Depends if you want to keep them or leave them in the main tank for the others to eat and keep your fry count down....If you move them, Let mom go with them so she can care for them and show them how to scronge for food as she wil dig in the gravel with her stomic for lose food for them..Do so now while they are eggs as it is harder to catch the fry...She wil hide them for a few days until they eat their egg sacks, so dont' freak out if you dont' see them for a good 5 days.... When you see that they are free swim, As in all over the tank or by mom, then you need to feed them. YOU can crush flake foods in a zip-lock bag until it is a powder like form and pinch in some 2x daily, swirl in with your finger to get the food to sink to them..You also need to fix the filter intake so it does not suck them into the filter.. That cut to fit filter media is great to use for this.. PetSmart has it..It is blue on one side and white on the other. cut a piece and rap one time only on the intake head and secure with a rubber band..Clean every other day as it does get cloged up fairly fast..You can remove this when they are 3 weeks old..Looks like you have your hands full with convicts.. Pink ones should be easier to get homes for...Good luck and enjoy them...:D

Help with convict fry

The female con should have layed the eggs on a structure, like a rock or any kind of other surface..Just take what she layed the eggs on and move it to another tank with some of this main tank water add in...She needs to go to so she can fan the eggs and care for the fry when they hatch..They are stil very vunerable and they need the female to care for them for a good 3 weeks.. this also keeps her from spawning again until you place her back into the main tank..OR until the fry are all gone (eaten) if you leave her in the main tank... Either way...Seperating the males from the females is your best bet right now.. Another 20 gal tank or bigger works great for this...Do you have another tank to put the Eggs and mom into?? I thought you only had one tank... NOT good as you have pairs.. If you can later, save up for a 55 gal and stand..And maybe get rid of some of the cons so you dont' have such a problem..You can always get more later when you get a bigger tank...

That wil work for 2 months or so, but then they are going to need more room..At that time line thou, you should be able to find them homes and some can go back into the main tank..You really need to seperate the males from the females or you are going to need a LOT more tanks..Leaving them in the main tank if they do spawn a lot will solve a lot of problems..
In the 10 gal you are going to have to do 2gal water changes every 5 days to maintain their water quality...
