i thought i read somewhere that i can feed crickets to my oscar. i know they can probably eat one but is it healthy?

it depends where ya got the cricket from......

If it's from somewhere out in the yard, I'd say No - it could carry herbicides, pesticides or a hord of other contaminates.

If it's a feeder cricket from an LFS, you are still taking a bit of a risk, but I don't think it's as high as a "from around the house" cricket.

Some people say yes and some no to any live food, but it comes down to whether you feel safe in doing so. My personal experience... I say yes and agree with Scorpi-O about where you get them. I use to feed crickets to both My South American and African Cichlid tanks, but only the ones that I bought at the LFS.

I feed my Fish crickets and they LOVE them, but after there done they make an awful mess! I think there safe, but like they said get them from somewere nice and that you know will be safe.
