Is it true that female convicts are smaller than the male?

And

Does the male form a nucal hump on his forehead?

Yes females are smaller then males and some males do form a pronounced hump but not all will.

The most common way to sex them if picking small convicts is females usually display some orange/gold on their stomaches and often tints of blue, green or orange on their dorsal and anal fins.

Males generally will have pointeir fins and longer fin extensions then females (but this trait can be hard to determine in some cases with the amount some convicts are inbred).
