texas cichlid and oscars??

i'm new here. just found this site today. anyways my question is can a texas cichlid and an oscar get along in the same tank? i have a chance to get the tex from another person but i don't want to end up with one of them dead. they are both about 5" long.

Sorry but I vote no, maybe if they were introduced together at a younger age, and in a large tank, I would say try it.

I would go further and say "no" under any circumstances, even if introduced at a young age and in a larger tank. It's a mix I've never seen work. --Mark

thanks for the input. i don't want to risk either fish getting killed so i'll just leave mr. oscar (kids named him) by himself in his tank. i already think he's gotten bigger since i put him in the 55 gal tank.
