A question i have a 7 inches red devil for about a year and 2 months and he seems to be stop in his growing. He looks very well and is very agressive , but recently his not eating as well as he did before. He eats the minimun necessary. He has no sign of hole in the head. If the food is a litle big, he seems to have problem in the gills to triturate it. I'm thinking that he have some kind of parasite that is bothering him. Also how big it is supposed to be? He is alone in a 55 gallon tank. I have seem a female that grow much faster than he did. Before i have 2 Oscars and a Jack Dempsey with him and they all eats a lot. Then i live him with the dempsey alone and the symptoms of problems when he eats start. Before he can eat easily a big freeze dried Krill, now it have a lot of problems with it. I have Oscars in the past that have the same problem. Let me know what to do, before is too late. The size of my fish is right or you believe that is small to the time that i have kept. I buy it very small.

Depending on what sort of red devil you have they usually average 12 inches plus.

Try something like fluke tablets and check your water paramenters for ammonia and nitrite levels. Also make sure the ph hasnt changed a lot recently.
