I know I might be opening a can of worms here , but here goes. What do you all think about the American Pit Bull Terrier (pit bull is not an actual breed it's slang)? I've been into dogs for a long time and this has now become my favorite breed. Seeing how I don't know much about fish I thought I'd talk about something I do know.
Do any of you believe the media hype about these dogs or do you feel they are getting an unfair rap due to idiots , dog fighters.
Do you agree with dog breed bans or stronger dangerous dog laws (non breed specific).
Are there any weight pull people out there or anyone who'd like to know about it?
I attached a pic of my son and my dog I hope it works .
Looking forward to hearing from yall.

I like dogs about as much as I like fish. As for the pit bull I love the look of the breed and I hate how the media has portrayed the whole breed as aggressive killing machines. I know of quite a few people who own a pit bull and they are as friendly as any.
I think the reason the breed has been portrayed that way is because the dog is a good breed to use for dog fighting and then when the fad came to keep these dogs, a lot of them were treated bad and in turn became aggressive.
I think this dog got stuck with a bad rap, such if you look at dog attacks. The pit bull is not on top of the list like most people would believe. The dalmation attack more people than the pit bull does.
As for the dog laws, I believe they are not just protecting people. They are protecting the animals. By keeping the dog away from city it will take it out of the lime life and allow the breed to become repretiable again.

Thanks

The problem with this legislation is that it isn't just being used in the city. Also when you ban a breed the problem people don't relocate the dogs they just let them out the door. Also it creates a false sense of security.
People trust the laws to make them safe and don't learn any responsibility for their actions. The people who are screwing up this dog move on to a new breed. You ever hear of the Pressa Canario (sp?) Look up the Diane Whipple case once (originally blamed on the pit bull). These dogs are currently being bred to protect cocaine and other drug farms. They are a one person dog.
By the way this is fact. Imagine someone bringing one of these to your neighborhood?
You're not totally off base there though there has to be some tougher laws and fines for dangerous dogs in the city then in the country. Let's face it it's a whole different way of life.
Just remember when something becomes illegal it usually becomes a bigger problem , don't forget the prohabition.
