Jus curious, I friend I go to school with told me that he once had salt water piranahs, I never even heard of them being found in salt water. Is this true or what? I have five piranahs at the moment. I bought them at about one half an inch long. They are no a little over one inch. They are the the meanest fish I have ever owned. They are nuts.

never heard of such a thing... it is possible there is a brackish water species but I tend to doubt it... as far as I know they live far inland in streams and rivers, where they would have no access to the ocean.

I once saw a old movie called "Piranahs 2, The spawning!!!" *lol* obously a sequel to pirhanas 1 where genetically engineered piranas eat ppl. number 2 was when they went into salt water and attacked ppl on yachts ect.
I think it's bogus about salt water piranahs but like adam said, about brackish ones, I could believe...fish can adapt to a huge range of conditions, I watched a show of people catching 8 foot long sharks like 100 miles upstream of the ocean!
