Oscars & Other Cichlids

Postby ogar615 on Mon Oct 09, 2006 1:31 pm

Hello all,
I have previously posted that i had a 30 gal high tank and wanted to get an oscar and some other cichlids, everyone told me that the 30 gal would get small quick so i have gone out and gotten a 125gal tank and i am in the process of setting it up. That being said, i have gotten lots of differtent ideas about filtration, the one i have followed so far is i have gotten two (2) separate Magnum 350 pro systems (mainly for the bio wheels) and i will get a Marineland 400 if needed, what i am wondering is what do i need to do about heating and is ther any good areas to look into realistic backgrounds?  thanx for all your help.....................Ogar

Hi, Ogar, and congratulations on the new tank!  I haven't used the magnums, but have heard good things about them.  See how it goes for awhile before you add the other one.  I'd rate the need to be a toss-up, depending on what you put in there and your feeding style.  Most fish shops have a decent selection of backgrouds -- just do some scouting and find one you like.  You can also find them online.  Trick with the larger tanks is to find the right size.  Not a huge problem, but do measure.

Yeah, I've seen those around also.  Been a couple of years, though, and I can't remember where.
