Oscars Fighting

Postby DavidJ on Fri May 10, 2002 5:08 pm

Alright, let's start, I have two oscars about 6 - 8 inches in length and they've grown up together but now everytime I turn on the lights "Big Red" kicks the crap out of "Old Yeller". They've gotten along before and really haven't gotten bigger in size but I have added a Red Belly Pacu and it has recently gotten bigger. Any ideas why these guys are fighting and if it will stop? Neither bother the Pacu and they don't fight with the ligths off.

That is a strange one that the fish only fight with the lights on. What size tank are they in? You could try taking the oscars out and rearranging the tank then put them back in. Put "Old Yeller" back in first though.

Oscars Fighting

After reading these message, I have found out that my tank is too small for what I have in it. It's 55 gallons, fairly empty with decorations, but the Pacu is getting big. I wonder if I get rid of it, it will free some space and the two Oscars will not fight. I mean as soon I turn on the lights, they start fighting, but they are best friends with the lights off. I think my best and first step might be to get rid of the pacu--what do you think?

Well thanks for your answers, it seems they are doing a bit better, still get preturbed at each other, but at least there is no flesh hanging anymore. I'm still going to get rid of the Pacu and pretty much just leave the tank to the Oscars. Thanks for your answers!
